On Saturday October 30th, the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department hosted their 1st Annual Texas Hold’em Tournament at the IOOF Hall on Main Street. A sold out event with sixty players that paid a $100 buy-in to join the tournament which was facilitated by Blue Dog Events.
Players first enjoyed an amazing BBQ Tri-Tip dinner that was catered by Stubby’s Breakfast and BBQ in Cool. Our local Georgetown Rotary supported the event with their fantastic beverage service.
This was an elimination tournament starting with six tables with ten players at each table. Over several hours of exciting play the field was narrowed down to ten finalists who faced off on stage to see who could be the overall champion. Each of the ten finalists received a bag containing gifts from Georgetown Distillery and BarmHaus Brewery.
In the end, Mike Williams was able to edge out all sixty players to become the champion for our first event! In a playground style prize selection process Mike chose the Generac generator donated by Georgetown Supply for his achievement! He also received a tournament champion t-shirt.
There were a total of seven prizes that were generously donated by our community for this event which were selected in the following order:
- 1st place: Generac generator from Divide Supply Ace Hardware
- 2nd place: Pair of tickets to the 2023 Jeepers Jamboree from Jeepers Jamboree
- 3rd place: Stihl Chainsaw from All Cycles
- 4th place: Yamaha Generator from Georgetown Fire
- 5th place: 3 bottles of spirts from Georgetown Distillery
- 6th place: Bedding set and beer gift basket from Delta Bedding and Furniture
- 7th place: Bedding set and salon gift basket from Delta Bedding and Furniture / Country Girl Salon
A key part to the success of this inaugural event were the generous Table Sponsors; Barlow Adventures, Patti Smith Real Estate, Georgetown Gas N Go, Divide Supply, Mt Adams Wildfire, Stubby’s Breakfast and BBQ and the Phillips Family. This event was a tremendous success raising over $7,700 for the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department! We would like to thank all of our event, prize and table sponsors and of course the players for helping to make this a huge success for our first event and the community. We look forward to the 2nd Annual Event in 2023 which will take place in May 2023.
