The Georgetown Fire Department has vehicle and debris fire in the midst of increasing call activity

The Georgetown Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Wednesday, April 29th in the 400 block of Cougar Ln. at 6:36 a.m.  The fire began in a Dodge pickup with a camper and extended to some debris and a work trailer.  Garden Valley Fire Department and CAL FIRE units also responded and assisted Georgetown units in quickly controlling the flames.  Units remained on the scene for several hours mopping up and salvaging property for the owner.

The Georgetown Fire Department is experiencing a surge in call volume over the last few weeks.  In particular, we have noticed an increase in vehicle activity and accidents in our remote areas.  We had motorcycle accidents last weekend on Saturday near Uncle Tom’s Cabin and Sunday at Loon Lake.  The Loon Lake call involved several motorcyclists down. one rider was airlifted to Sutter Roseville by CalStar.  An off duty EDSO Deputy and his wife, an off duty Paramedic from the South Lake Tahoe CSA 3 Ambulance Service, provided treatment until Georgetown units arrived.
