The Georgetown Fire Department responded to our first vegetation fire of the year on Friday

The Georgetown Fire Department, along with CAL FIRE units, responded to a small vegetation fire at just before noon yesterday.  The fire was in the area of Sliger Mine Rd. and Spanish Dry Diggins.  The fire was a controlled burn that got out of control.  The homeowner did have a burn permit and it was an approved burn day.

This was our first vegetation fire of the year and ended up to be about an acre in size.  We would like to use this as a reminder to everyone of the dangers and responsibilities of a controlled burn.  Even with a permit and following proper procedures, there is always a danger of a fire getting out of control.
