Remote Area Rescue Quad accident on February 1, 2020

The Georgetown Fire Department, along with units from CAL FIRE, Garden Valley Fire, as well helicopters from CHP and CALSTAR, responded to a quad accident at 4:49 p.m. yesterday. The first unit located the patient at 5:21 p.m. after an extensive search involving crews converging from 3 different routes. A civilian off-road motorcyclist was with the patient when firefighters arrived. The approximately 20 year old male appeared to have only minor injuries. His quad was located 30′ down an embankment. The patient was transported in a Cal Fire pickup to Georgetown’s ambulance, Medic 61. He was then evaluated and transported to Marshall Hospital for precautionary reasons.

The helicopters were essential in locating the patient so quickly. The coordination of all the agencies was impressive and critical to such a positive outcome.
