The Georgetown Fire Protection District is watching the American River Fire Protection District process very closely and announces future Town Hall Meetings

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 24, 2019

The Georgetown Fire Protection District (GFPD) is watching very closely the formation of the American River Fire Protection District (ARFPD).  Georgetown Fire works very closely with the Garden Valley Fire Protection District (GVFPD) and will obviously be affected by any changes in the operations of the newly named ARFPD.

Last week GFPD sent a message to GVFPD Fire Chief Savacool that stated;

“Georgetown Fire offers our support and best wishes for your efforts regarding the creation of the American River Fire District.”

“We are requesting to be kept informed as the process moves forward.”

“The subject will absolutely generate conversations regarding Georgetown Fire and we would rather be involved in order to answer any questions/comments.”

“Georgetown Fire is, and always has been, opposed to any concepts regarding forcing any consolidation/annexation of fire districts, but is, and always has been, willing to discuss any type of working relationships between our agencies.”

Georgetown Fire has always worked on a good neighbor policy and we will continue to do so and offer our support to the GVFPD and ARFPD as the process moves forward.  We will constantly review how this will affect our department and our citizens.  In addition, we will always be looking for ways to partner with other fire agencies, government agencies, as well as private agencies to ensure that we provide the best services we can to our citizens.

Georgetown Fire is planning on holding town hall meetings after the first of the year.  The meetings will be to inform and discuss the ongoing plans for our department and how we will serve our community.  We will also be bringing speakers on topics such as Homeowner Fire Insurance, PG&E Power Shutoffs and other important topics to our Georgetown community.
